TCHN Announces New Medical Director in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS–Dr. Amy Himel has been named Medical Director of STAT Home Health, AIM Palliative Home Health and St. Joseph Hospice in the New Orleans service area of The Carpenter Health Network.

A member of the American Board of Internal Medicine, the Gulf State Quality Network and the Pulmonary Service Line Performance Improvement Committee, Dr. Himel has served as an instructor and hospitalist at the LSU School of Medicine, Tulane University Student Health Center, East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie and the Lallie Kemp Medical Center in Independence. She also served in private practice.

Dr. Himel earned bachelor’s and medical degrees from LSU. She served at the LSU Health Sciences Center as an intern, resident and chief resident. Her academic honors include the Hull-Akenhead Memorial Award for accomplishments with cardiovascular disease, and she received teaching awards from the Aesculapian Society and the LSU Internal Medicine Department.

As Medical Director for The Carpenter Health Network, Dr. Himel will provide guidance and leadership to the clinical team on utilization review, quality assurance and medical protocol. She will also oversee documentation and patient care planning.
