St. Joseph Hospice Nurse, Sherrell Beardon, RN, will transition into her new role as AIM Director-Southeast Louisiana on September 18, 2015. She looks forward to the rewarding challenge of something new as she enthusiastically shares her plans for the future of the program! AIM Palliative Home Health provides specialized at-home healthcare to patients actively fighting an advanced illness.

Q: What do you hope to bring to your new role as AIM Coordinator?
A: Nine years of hospice experience in the field, a desire for improvement, and a team building AIM attitude!

Q: What skills or personal characteristics have you developed as an RN/Case Manager that will be beneficial in your new position?
A: The most valuable would be compassion. Emotional support is equally as important as medical knowledge to patients and their families.

Q: What are you most excited about?
A: Having the opportunity to get out and meet some new faces within the medical community and being able to collaborate with them more closely to better serve our patients!

Q: What separates the AIM program from others like it?
A: STAT Home Health is the first in Baton Rouge to offer a palliative care program.

Our patients are able to benefit from being treated by board certified hospice and palliative care physicians, hospice-trained RNs and LPNs and a staff of licensed practitioners consisting of Certified Nursing Aides, Medical Social Workers and Chaplains. Together as a team we are able to provide the care and support our patients and families need!
