The Carpenter Health Network Announces Response to Confront COVID-19 Virus

Baton Rouge, LA – We know that people are very concerned about this rapidly spreading virus COVID-19, also known as Coronavirus. Naturally, those who have loved ones with serious illness in hospice or palliative care are even more concerned. In response to a growing number of COVID-19 cases across the United States, The Carpenter Health Network has established safety and infection control protocols to help combat the spread of the virus.

The Carpenter Health Network is closely following guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the effort to protect our patients and employees from COVID-19. Our Senior Leadership team has met and implemented precautionary measures throughout our Network, reinforcing best practices to prevent the spread of colds, influenza, and other viruses to staff, patients, families, and visitors. Focused attention is on regular infection control procedures and limiting transmission through handwashing, proper equipment cleaning, and the use of sanitizers.

As more cases are being confirmed in the US, we are taking precautionary measures to protect our patients and their families as well as our employees and volunteers.

Please note in order to protect our vulnerable patients and healthcare staff; we ask that only immediate family members visit The Carpenter House, Capitol House Nursing and Rehabilitation, Sage Rehabilitation Hospital and Outpatient Services and Sage Specialty Hospital. All visitors should be symptom-free.

“As always, our caregivers continue to provide the highest quality of care to ensure great outcomes. We remain on high caution and will continue to utilize these protocols to protect our patients, families, and employees from adverse risk, says Pat Mitchell, CEO Carpenter Health Network. While the risk remains low, we take the wellbeing of those using or working in healthcare very seriously and appreciate your support in following the guidance above.”
